Klimbing at Kiwanis Kamp Krag

Kiwanis Camp Crag is truly a roadside crag with zero hiking distance. Composed of vertical Andesite the crag offers climbers a smattering of a dozen 40’ tall top-ropes or lead climbs ranging in difficulty from 5.6 to 5.11+. The climbs are mostly crimpy face climbs or positive incut jug holds. Some routes take reasonable gear placements, while others are fully bolted routes or mixed bolt/gear leads. There are plenty of belay anchors, but for some routes you will need to sling a tree to belay.

The nature of the bluff is a long flat slice of well-worn smooth surfaced Andesite that is quite solid, but has a bit of moss on the infrequently traveled routes. Perhaps more climbers visiting KCC will help to make this site more user friendly. The entire main wall tilts in-your-face about 2˚, but each routes difficulty really depends on the size and quantity of holds. This particular grade of grainy surfaced Andesite is great for friction. Do not drop any gear (i.e. water bottles, belay device) because a roaring little stream is just beneath your feet a few steep yards away from the crag.

There is one book source available that provides directions and beta to this climbing site:
