Gear suggestions are described on a basic measurement size basis (1/4" to 4"+). The type or brand of gear you use is ultimately your choice. Sometimes a certain rock climb beta list may suggest a specific type/brand at a certain gear placement; in general any brand should be feasible.
The term Wires or Nuts basically means 'wired nuts' or 'stoppers', etc. The term Multi indicates a 'multi-pitch' climb with several belay anchor points on the climb (and may need two ropes if a rappel is involved, such as at Beacon Rock). The term Cams indicate any spring-loaded device such as TCU's, Quad-cams, Camelot's, Friend's, etc.
