    This page provides brief info and web links for Oregon Coast Range Pinnacles. These minor summits often involve some form of technical rock climbing to ascend. The northern Oregon Coast Range seems to have more minor pinnacles than the southern coastal range, though plenty of impressive slabby and vertical sandstone formations do exist in the foothills of the southern Coast range.

    Chocolate Ears Pinnacle:

    A minor summit in the northern Oregon Coast Range about 10+ miles SE of Astoria.

    Clatsop Towers:

    A remarkable set of towers located to the NE of Onion Peak. These impressive rock towers offer the bold adventure climber quite a selection of adventure climbing on notably tall, yet decomposed rock formations. This zone has three dominant towers, including several other shorter lesser sized pinnacles in the general vicinity.

    X Tower (Clatsop Tower zone):

    The X-Tower is the first core tower to be conquered in this region (of the Clatsop Tower Group).

    Angora Grand Tour:

    The Grand Tour has provided numerous hikers / summiteers a long day filled with adventurous bold easy climbing mixed with a long day hike in a scenic zone in the foothills to the north of Manzanita, Oregon.

    Little Angora:

    This summit is one of the more technical climbing pinnacles in the Angora Group, and is often done as its own ascent, due to it being the furthest pinnacle afield of this entire group, thus the approach hike is the longest and involves some off-trail work.

    Elephant Rock:

    A huge rock massif located in the southern coastal foothills of a few miles northeast of Port Orford, Oregon. Climbing info: SW Buttress 5.10-, FA 7-4-80 BM-WW-TO. Other ascents on this peak over the past 40+ years are probable.
