Madrone Wall is considered to be one of the best multi-season rock climbing sites in the Portland metro area. This southwest oriented cliff scarp provides excellent rock climbing opportunities for all levels of rock climbers from beginner to advanced.
Great news...The Madrone Wall Park is open as of October 21, 2017. Rock climbers can once again enjoy climbing at one of Portland's best rock climbing crags.
The Madrone Wall Park concept was brought to fruition by the long-term efforts of a core group of pro-active citizens such as Keith Daellenbach and Kellie Rice, including substantial influence from organizations such as the Mazamas, American Alpine Club, Access Fund, various climbing gyms, and outdoor stores.
Through a 20-year interaction with county commissioners and (from October 2009 onward) with the county planning department, these various citizens (via Keith's preservation committee) were central in bringing the Madrone Wall Park forward to completion so all recreation enthusiasts could once again enjoy visiting this unique county treasure. Thank you Clackamas County!
